Heat wave to interrupt Shenzhen’s rainy spell
    2026-08-04  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

After days of rain, Shenzhen is expected to experience a brief heat wave beginning Aug. 6, with temperatures forecast to exceed 35°C as the city comes under the influence of Typhoon Dolphin’s outer subsidence airflow, local meteorological authorities said yesterday. The hot spell is expected to persist through Aug. 9. Typhoon Dolphin is forecast to make landfall Aug. 8 along the coast between southern Zhejiang and northern Fujian provinces. In an unusual development, Guangdong was absent from China’s national “top 10” list of hottest locations as of Sunday, even as much of the country experienced record-breaking heat. For Shenzhen, the coming heat wave marks a dramatic shift from July’s relentless rainfall, which soaked the city on 16 separate days
