
Editor’s note: From July 28 to 31, Shenzhen’s Longhua District hosted the Asia-Pacific Digital & Intelligent Economy Sustainable Development Innovation Week, featuring diplomatic visits, keynote speeches, high-level dialogues, case releases, and business exchanges to explore global trends, regional challenges, and sustainable innovation pathways. The visit was an important part of the “Asia-Pacific Development Stories – Discover China in the New Era” program for diplomats and international media, aiming to showcase Shenzhen’s achievements in urban development, technological innovation, and opening up to the world. The delegation conducted a full-day immersive tour, visiting the Shenzhen Library North Division, Longhua Future City Exhibition Hall, Longhua International Cooperation Center, National Innovation Center for Advanced Medical Devices, and Leyard Southern Headquarters. In the evening, they also enjoyed a spectacular city drone light show, gaining a comprehensive view of Longhua’s urban landscape, cultural heritage, and advanced industrial strength. At the Shenzhen Library North Division, the delegation explored the country’s leading automated intelligent book storage system. They experienced firsthand the complete smart operation system, including automated book collection, storage, three-dimensional shelving, intelligent sorting, and distribution, gaining insight into how Shenzhen uses digital technology to enhance public cultural services and build a modern “city of libraries.” At the Longhua Future City Exhibition Hall, the delegation learned about Shenzhen’s urban development journey, Longhua’s key industrial zones, and the future vision for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area through digital models and AR interactive displays. At the Longhua International Cooperation Center, the delegation visited a district-level platform for international exchange and cooperation. They viewed innovative products from local technology companies and learned how Longhua leverages the platform to facilitate international economic and trade exchanges, support companies going global, and provide comprehensive foreign-related services. Sinisa Berjan, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to China, said the center showcased many innovative and impressive products that could improve everyday life. “I just tried one of the innovative products. I’m quite satisfied because I got some valuable results. I took photos, and later I will analyze all the results we got from the machine,” he said. At the National Innovation Center for Advanced Medical Devices, the delegation visited a national-level innovation platform and learned about breakthroughs in core technologies for high-end medical devices, as well as the transformation of scientific research achievements into practical applications. At the Leyard Southern Headquarters, the delegation explored an advanced display manufacturing base and experienced firsthand Shenzhen’s cutting-edge optoelectronic display technologies, intelligent manufacturing processes, and global market competitiveness. “Everywhere we went, we saw something innovative and futuristic. It has been an amazing experience for everyone to come here and witness Shenzhen’s development and progress firsthand,” said Ambassador Sinisa Berjan. “We have truly learned a lot. We hope our country can learn from the advanced experience of our Chinese friends, especially our friends and partners from Shenzhen.” |
