Zhibao, the official mascot of the 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games, which is played by a costumed actor, draws crowds at a press conference in Beijing on Thursday. A total of 2,056 robots from 666 teams representing 16 countries will compete at Beijing’s National Speed Skating Oval from Aug. 22 to 26 in 32 events. Billed as the world’s first and only Olympic-style competition exclusively for humanoid robots, the games mark a milestone in the development of embodied artificial intelligence.
