
Humanoid robots Tiangong Ultra (R), co-developed by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center and Shenzhen-based UBTECH, and Lightning, developed by Shenzhen-based smartphone maker Honor, compete in the 100-meter preliminary race Saturday, the opening day of the 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games, in Beijing. Tiangong Ultra finished in 9.39 seconds, surpassing Usain Bolt’s 9.58-second human world record set in Berlin in 2009. It overtook Lightning near the finish after trailing early. Lightning finished in 9.47 seconds, also faster than Bolt’s mark. The results marked a sharp improvement over last year’s inaugural games. The event, which runs through Wednesday, features 51 events and 1,301 competitions, attracting 666 teams and 2,056 humanoid robots from around the world. Xinhua |
