Shenzhen boasts 132 entrepreneurs with personal wealth of at least US$1 billion each, ranking second globally behind only New York and first in China, ahead of Beijing and Shanghai, Rupert Hoogewerf, chairman and chief research officer of Hurun Report, said during a recent speech in Shenzhen. Shenzhen has 44 unicorn companies, ranking sixth among cities worldwide and third in China. Nanshan District is home to 24 of them, accounting for 54.55% of the city’s total. China ranks second globally in the number of unicorn companies, with 80 new unicorns added during the past year. The U.S. leads the world with 806 unicorn companies, accounting for 50.3% of the global total
