Robot-run 24-hour convenience stores debut in Hong Kong
    2026-09-01  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A humanoid robot named Xiao Gai, developed by Beijing-based AI and robotics company Galbot, serves customers at a Galbot store in Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Arena yesterday. The store and two others, at the New Hung Hom Harbourfront and Wan Chai Promenade, will officially open to the public today. Galbot says the stores are Hong Kong’s first 24-hour convenience stores staffed entirely by humanoid robots. According to the company, Xiao Gai can speak multiple languages, stock shelves, process payments, and use voice and visual recognition.China News Service
