Shenzhen is making it easier for international visitors to pay for everyday purchases by enabling them to use their home-country digital wallets to scan WeChat Pay QR codes, without downloading a Chinese payment app. The service, powered by TenPay Global’s cross-border QR payment gateway, links WeChat Pay’s merchant network with nearly 50 overseas digital wallets, including PayPal, Hana Pay and ZaloPay. The initiative is part of Shenzhen’s efforts to improve payment accessibility for international travelers as the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting is scheduled to take place in the city in November
