A CONSENSUS on promoting the prosperity and development of the Asia-Pacific region was unveiled at the Asia-Pacific Media Forum (APMF) in Shenzhen on Saturday.

Over 400 representatives from over 40 countries and regions, as well as from U.N. agencies and international organizations, attended the event. Sixteen Chinese and international organizations set up the Organizing Committee of the Asia-Pacific Media Partnership Program.

The Shenzhen Consensus of the Asia-Pacific Media Forum underscored the importance of openness, innovation and cooperation in promoting prosperity across the region.

Representatives pledged to champion openness and report on and explain initiatives and practices related to the construction of the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific and the stability of industrial and supply chains. They also committed to promoting policy coordination and experience sharing while showcasing the region’s progress.

Participants said digital, intelligent and green transformation offers new opportunities for regional growth. They pledged to explain digital development policies, promote constructive coverage of digital technologies, expand the use of AI in the media sector, and share best practices in clean energy and low-carbon buildings.

During visits to six cities in Guangdong, including Shenzhen, the representatives saw progress in technological innovation, industrial upgrading and coordinated development. They called for sharing development experience and supporting paths suited to individual countries’ national conditions.

Also at the forum, Shenzhen launched a media cooperation campaign at the event, focusing on technology sharing, joint content creation and talent cultivation. (Xinhua)
