A CROSS-MEDIA art action has opened at Artron Art Center (Shenzhen), bringing together 27 artists and groups from China, Italy, India, South Korea, and Canada. Across more than 800 square meters, the exhibition presents over 80 works spanning painting, installation, video, sculpture, performance, fiber art, and new media.

Taking its cues from two workplace buzzwords — “granularity” and “aligning” — the exhibition draws on Foucault’s “disciplinary society” and Deleuze’s “society of control” to examine life in a fast-moving city. Rather than offering definitive answers, it invites visitors to re-experience those fragmented bodily sensations they have long taken for granted.

The exhibition breaks down the boundaries of single-medium creation. Visitors can feel the texture of time in fibers, read system metaphors in installations, and sense the tension between body and rules in live performances. Together, the works stage a dialogue about urban rhythm, work mechanisms, algorithmic systems, and individual perception.

The exhibition unfolds through four narrative frameworks: “Moments of Escape,” “Waveforms of Control,” “Exercises in Aligning,” and “Granularity of Discipline.”

The journey begins with how body and time are measured, moves through the always-on digital protocol, questions the cost of identity, and finally arrives at moments of respite.

By the time visitors complete the full circuit, they may find themselves re-measuring their own condition — and, at the end of the exhibition, quietly reconciling with the self that has been repeatedly aligned.
