An Italian competitor in the furniture making event prepares for the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, where the opening ceremony was held last night. The competition officially starts today and will run through Sept. 27, drawing nearly 1,400 competitors from about 70 countries and regions. Four of China’s 71 competitors are from Shenzhen: Qin Xiutao, Du Meiting and Qiu Shubin of Shenzhen Institute of Technology, and Li Wentao of Shenzhen Polytechnic University.
