The first batch of autonomous robot stores by Beijing-based Galaxy General Robotics officially began operations in Hong Kong on Sept. 1, with robot “shopkeepers” taking charge at three locations — the new Hung Hom waterfront, the Wan Chai waterfront water sports and recreation zone, and the Kai Tak Sports Park’s Kai Tak Arena. Shoppers can interact with the robots in Cantonese to browse, ask questions, and make purchases.
