LOCATED in Shitang Town of Wenling City, Zhejiang Province, Liluo Village was settled over 300 years ago by fishermen from Fujian, who brought their culture to this mountain-and-sea hamlet. In 2013, it was added to the second batch of the List of Traditional Villages of China. The village is home to Dazougu, a national-level intangible cultural heritage. This folk ritual — performed by men in women’s clothing with boisterous, exuberant energy — embodies the fishermen’s hopes for a good catch and their zest for life. Today, the village is buzzing with fresh energy as heritage and tourism converge.(SD News) |
