SHENZHEN has upgraded services at its land border crossings ahead of the APEC summit, adding dedicated lanes, multilingual signs and volunteer assistance to help international travelers. The Shenzhen Office of Port of Entry and Exit said each crossing had tailored its improvements to its role. The upgrades cover not only immigration processing but also onward travel, payment options and tax refunds. Huanggang Port, which operates around the clock, has streamlined clearance procedures. Self-service clearance can take as little as 20 seconds, according to the port office. Signs in Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean are posted in different areas of the clearance hall, where officers are stationed at designated points in shifts. Futian Port has added one-stop service centers along the arrival route and placed multilingual reminders at key points. At Shenzhen Bay Port, officials have updated signs inside and outside the passenger inspection building. Floor markings guide travelers along the route, and APEC lanes are separated from regular lanes and clearly marked. The port, a main route for vehicles in western Shenzhen, has also improved lane identification and wayfinding. Luohu Port has set up a reception desk for foreign visitors and deployed staff who speak English, French, Japanese, Korean and other languages. A tax-refund office near the arrival area has also seen more visitors, with some travelers completing refunds within minutes, according to the port. APEC banners, signs for dedicated lanes and flower displays are visible at several crossings. Staff at information desks wear APEC sashes and use event-branded identification and desk signs as they assist visitors. (SD News) |
