Overseas media spotlight APEC summit in Shenzhen
    2026-11-04  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

INTERNATIONAL media outlets are focusing on the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting to be held in Shenzhen later this month, along with related developments.

Travel And Tour World, a U.S.-based travel industry website, reported Monday that China had introduced a 90-day stay limit for APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) holders, allowing them longer visits and greater flexibility in the Asia-Pacific region. The change is intended to make business travel more convenient, the report said.

The adjustment is significant for frequent business travelers attending extended negotiations, trade fairs and supplier meetings, the report said. It also cautioned that the rule does not allow all business visitors to stay in China for three months. Travelers must qualify for the ABTC program and meet the applicable entry requirements.

Other overseas outlets, including PR Newswire and Yahoo Finance, covered Shenzhen’s release of the host-city theme song for APEC China 2026 and its accompanying music video.

The song uses a youthful style and tells stories of people pursuing their dreams, linking personal aspirations with Shenzhen’s development and the broader goal of Asia-Pacific cooperation, PR Newswire reported. The music video features the city’s streets and landmarks, while focusing on people from different backgrounds, including young people and international residents. It also conveys Shenzhen’s welcome to visitors, the report said.

In a commentary published Monday, The Korea Times said the meeting in Shenzhen could help revive the Asia-Pacific economy and make better use of the region’s potential. It argued that economic security and resilient supply chains are increasingly important in the AI era, while tariff barriers and technological competition make regional cooperation more urgent.

The commentary called on APEC economies to pursue practical areas of cooperation, including more predictable trade, paperless procedures, infrastructure development and skills training. It said leaders should use the meeting to rebuild confidence in cooperation and support growth across the region.                   (SD News)
