New leader of Ritz-Carlton, Shenzhen
    2011-07-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Maggie Tang

MARTIN KLEINMANN has been appointed general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Shenzhen, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company L.L.C. announced last week.

Kleinmann is a 16-year veteran of the luxury hotel industry and has been general manager of Ritz-Carlton hotels in Istanbul, Cairo and Bahrain. Greeting guests and other people in the Shenzhen hotel at a welcome party held for him Thursday evening, the German expressed his enthusiasm about arriving in the southern Chinese boomtown.

“I am thrilled to be coming to this unique, prosperous, world-famous city,” he said. “In a very short time The Ritz-Carlton, Shenzhen has already secured a reputation for excellence that most hotels can only dream about, and I will be working hard to enrich that reputation further.”

His enthusiasm is unsurprising: Kleinmann says that living in Asia — and particularly in China — is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.

Prior to joining The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Kleinmann held senior executive positions with many high-profile hotels in America, Europe and Asia. He is a graduate of the Hotel Business School Bad Uberkingen and will be joined in Shenzhen by his wife and two sons.
