Wang Yuanyuan GUEST chef Chien Hung-wen from Grand Hyatt Taipei will provide delicious Taiwanese cuisine at The Show Kitchen in Grand Hyatt Shenzhen from Oct. 21 to 30. Born and raised in Taipei, Chien has over 40 years of culinary experience and has worked for various five-star hotels in Singapore, London, Beijing and Shanghai. Influenced by Japanese culture, Taiwanese cuisine has various types of cold appetizer dishes, including pickled cucumber, salted fish and salted pork. The earliest immigrants from the Chinese mainland were mostly from Luoyang, Henan Province, who were good at making potage soup, so dishes served with richly flavored soup are also very common in Taiwan. During festivals and holidays, Taiwanese like to make home-made dishes with Chinese herbs, so traditional Chinese herbal dishes are also a must- try at The Show Kitchen buffet. Other traditional Taiwanese dishes such as braised chicken with three cups of rice wine and basil, steamed rice, minced pork sauce are also highly recommended at the buffet. There is also a lucky draw at The Show Kitchen, where guests will get the chance to win accommodation, spa and dining experience at Grand Hyatt Shenzhen. Chien and his team will host a cooking class from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 at The Mansion of the hotel.
