AS of Nov. 7, The Ritz-Carlton, Shenzhen has been welcoming guests to its new Harmony Ballroom, which holds the distinction of having been designed from its conception with an eye toward environmental conservation. A primary conservation method is the facility’s expansive glass ceiling, allowing for the space to be lit almost exclusively by natural light during the daytime; meanwhile, a full suite of programable and energy-saving LED lighting fixtures allows for custom lighting designs to supplement the space’s voluminous ambient illumination. “Harmony is a resounding counterpoint to anyone who believes that being environmentally conscious means sacrificing comfort or quality,” said Martin Kleinmann, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Shenzhen. “We are proud of the freedom that Harmony allows guests in designing unforgettable events, as well as the diverse energy-saving methods integrated into its design and operation.” Harmony supplements the hotel’s 608-square-meter Grand Ballroom, and can host up to 260 guests and features direct elevator access as well as the ability for “break out” sessions in the nearby Xingli Chinese Restaurant’s private dining rooms as well as the fifth-floor rooftop garden.
