Japanese ‘Iron Chefs’
gourmet
gathering
    2012-02-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHANGRI-LA Hotel, Shenzhen has invited five Japanese “Iron Chefs” from Nagoya to hold a gourmet gathering at 360° Bar, Restaurant and Lounge on Sunday. The chefs will present six courses of authentic Japanese cuisine, including a drink — Tohoku sake — to welcome diners, along with eight creative appetizers, traditional Japanese sushi and desserts. Moreover, the chefs will highlight Jagaimo No Kinpira (grilled sea bream) and Tai No Kamayaki (soft-shelled turtle meat and vegetables in hotpot). These two signature dishes are representative of the exquisite Japanese culinary art. A mystery dish also will be presented to guests during the gathering.

From Japan, Chef Masato Tange has more than 10 years of rich culinary experience. He is the executive chef at Wasabi Restaurant in Nagoya, which has received rave reviews from Japanese media. Chef Tsukasa Sakamoto, who is from Iwate Prefecture, is a talented executive sushi chef with a keen interest in making sushi, which he will demonstrate for diners.

“This is not only a Japanese gourmet gathering, but also a way to introduce the charm of Japanese cuisine to people in Shenzhen and to revive the taste of authentic Japanese food for Japanese people who live and work in Shenzhen,” said Tetsunori Miwaya, director of business development at Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen.
