Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen
    2012-12-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THIS Christmas, Futian Shangri-la, Shenzhen has opened a Gourmet Grotto to guests. With walls made of real gingerbread and the fragrance of mulled wine wafting through, the Gourmet Grotto offers a selection of Christmas gifts, such as traditional desserts and hampers.

The expatriate chefs are offering Christmas dishes from their own countries, such as German stollen, English mince pies and Italian panettone. The Christmas pudding at the grotto is made with over 28 ingredients using Georges-Auguste Escoffier’s 100-year-old recipe.

The chocolate sweets will come in shapes such as Santa Claus, snowmen and teddy bears. Other sweets include gingerbread cookies and novelty-sized lollipops.

If you want to have Christmas dinner at home, roast turkey with gravy, cranberry sauce and vegetables are available to order. The turkey dinner, suitable for 6-8 people, costs 600 yuan. Customers must order this meal three days in advance.

The Gourmet Grotto is open from now until Dec. 25, between 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
