Australian resort seeks more cooperation with China
    2013-04-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AUSTRALIAN popular holiday and business resort, Uluru Meeting Place, is hoping to attract more visitors from China, according to the Ayers Rock Resort.

Located at the famous Ayers Rock, Uluru Meeting Place re-opened at the end of last year after a face-lifting project. It is positioning itself as a convention center featuring convention halls and hotels — amid a beautiful natural environment and traditional local Anangu culture which offer an ideal location for business gatherings and leisure tours.

With an investment of A$30 million (US$30.96), Uluru Meeting Place added two new ballrooms — the Tjungu Ballroom with a capacity for 420 guests and the Wanari Room which can receive about 300 people — and they can also be divided into several smaller ballrooms for various events, exhibitions and trade fairs.

“The new convention center has first-class facilities and an elegant environment. It will be a very important option for business tourism planners,” said Ray Stoneo, executive general manager of Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia. “The guests can also take trips in the daytime and enjoy a nice outdoor meal under the moon. There are also various types of celebrations offered by the local Anangu people, such as dancing, sports games and instrument performances. Gifts will also be given to guests winning at the folk sports games.”

Statistics show that the number of Chinese guests arriving at the Ayers Rock Resort last year increased by more than 50 percent compared to the previous year. “With our cooperation with the Australian tourism department and promotion across China, we hope that more tourism groups would come to explore the magical Uluru in the future,” Stone said.
