AFTER months of engineering recipes for the richest, most moist mini cakes, testing more than 100 flavor combinations and fine-tuning decorative elements, the chefs at Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen proudly present 18 varieties of specialty cupcakes. These tasty treats will add delight to any occasion, whether it’s a birthday bash, celebration at the office, girl’s night out or just because.

    “We are dedicated to producing only the finest cupcakes, using premium ingredients including freshly prepared French pastry cream and Valrhona chocolate. The cupcakes are baked fresh daily with no additives. As such, the number of cupcakes we bake will be limited to only 100 per day for retail sales,” said Matthew Bennink, executive chef of Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen. “We put our heart and soul into creating this collection of cupcakes and had a lot of fun at the same time. I hope that our passion will come across when guests get to savor them.”

    The collection is noteworthy for its contemporary flavor combinations and exquisite presentation. The sour cherry cupcake with sour cream frosting, for example, features a combination of bold and subtle flavors, and an elegant presentation of smooth white frosting contrasting against a deep dark midnight hue of the cake, topped with a delicately curved leaf made of white chocolate, is finished with a fleck of gold leaf.

    The collection of cupcakes varies through the week, with six regular selections plus two rotating flavors offered daily. The six options that are available every day include green tea cupcakes with vanilla frosting, chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting, blueberry cupcakes with blueberry frosting, Mocha cupcakes with espresso frosting, Oreo cookie cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting.

    Packaged in a signature candy-striped box, Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen’s cupcakes are a great treat to brighten up one’s day and also a thoughtful gift to express care for a friend, colleague or family member.

    For special occasions and festive periods, the pastry team is happy to customize cupcakes to guests’ preferences. Forty-eight-hour advanced notice is required for all custom orders and bulk orders of 20 pieces or more. The cupcakes are available for 18 yuan each.
