IN early 2014, Langham Place, Guangzhou won Golden Post House’s “The Best Hotel Design 2013” award. Winners of this award are selected by senior industry sources and readers. The honor reflects superiority in the design of the hotel. Langham maintains a passion for the arts and an ingenious use of space. Langham Place, Guangzhou integrates modern styles with subtle luxury through its architectural design. It makes the hotel an iconic landmark in Guangzhou, with the building serving as an enormous piece of art that dominates Pazhou Island. Viewing the building from different angles will leave the guests with different impressions. For example, the hotel appears to be a sailboat frozen in time and space from one angle, and from another angle the building turns into a spaceship with unfolding wings. The hotel is affiliated with the Nanfenghui project, a complex located 160 meters away. In order to create an integrated effect and to clearly demonstrate the connection between the two buildings, the designers incorporated vertical designs into the 40-meter podium base of the building, with the rest of the structure following a more lateral pattern. The hotel was designed by a global team of award-winning architects from Aedas, with Andrew Bromberg, director of Aedas, as lead designer. Langham Place, Guangzhou is located adjacent to the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center, and offers easy access to nearby transportation. The hotel contains 500 stylish and contemporary guestrooms. (SD News) |
