Flower afternoon tea provided at The Langham, Shenzhen
    2015-04-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

FROM now until June 30, Palm Court at The Langham, Shenzhen is inviting guests to experience the joy of over 10 different types of floral essences that simply melt in the mouth. Paired with refined Wedgwood specialty teas and melodious piano tunes, a truly delightful afternoon awaits.

Executive pastry chef George Xiong uses his skills and imagination to create delicate flowers to fine desserts and make afternoon teatime a worldwide journey. The combination of gently scented jasmine and fragrant mango brings out a contradictory experience in the mouth, which is the Chinese style. The symbolic ingredients of Japanese cuisine, sakura and chestnut give the Financier cake an Oriental charm. Fresh and sweet lavender macaroons are a romantic French dream. And silky chocolate meets chrysanthemum when osmanthus serves as the partner of an apple tart. This is a carnival for both eyesight and taste buds.

In addition, the only sommelier certified by royal brand Wedgwood Tea Academy, Yuki Rao, will select from nearly 30 kinds of prime Wedgwood teas to pair with Xiong’s wonderful floral desserts.

Palm Court offers a selection of fine handpicked teas, including several luxuriously unique blends created especially for the Langham Hospitality Group. Recently, The Langham Hotels and Wedgwood collaborated to launch the bespoke version of the afternoon tradition, serving Wedgwood specialty teas in tailor-made Langham Rose Wedgwood teaware with special menus created by the hotels’ pastry chefs worldwide.

Additionally, Palm Court’s relaxing and refined ambiance is augmented by live piano tunes in the languid afternoons and mellow evenings. As the sun sets, the change of day can be celebrated with champagne, cocktails or pre-dinner aperitifs. Time: 2 p.m.- 17:30 p.m.

Price: 258 yuan plus a 15-percent service charge for two persons(SD News)
