THE sixth annual “Global Day of Discovery,” which aims to encourage business travelers to have refreshing new experience during their daily routine, was held Wednesday by Renaissance Hotels, part of Marriott International Inc., at the brand’s 160 hotels around the world. The global event invited guests to explore various art scenes and exotic cuisines, and offered exclusive packages to Marriott Rewards members. At the Shanghai venue, organizers managed to bring the city’s nightlife scene from the 1920s to life. Wednesday’s event took place at the iconic Paramount and embodied a Hollywood-like glamor in classic Shanghai style. The historic nightclub and dance hall greeted guests with the brand’s signature cocktail experience as well as performances. “Today’s business travelers appreciate unusual experiences that can be shared with friends and on social media,” said George Fleck, vice president of Global Brand Marketing and Management from Renaissance Hotels. “Thus, we commit to bringing the brand’s ‘business unusual’ mantra to life and helping guests capture these moments during the ‘Global Day of Discovery’ and beyond.” Other highlighted events include a three-night stay in the Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel’s Skyline Suite, a visit to the Freedom Tower observation deck and a preview of selected creations from New York designer Andreeva and Saunder and an epic lighting of the iconic Jacques-Cartier Bridge followed by a celebration at the Renaissance Montreal Downtown, with music and performances from Cirque Du Soleil. Among these events, the brand’s four-time James Beard award-winning chef Andrew Zimmern also served Marriott Rewards members who were on a culinary expedition in Dubai, discovering local cuisine of the United Arab Emirates, ahead of the highly-anticipated opening of Renaissance Downtown Hotel, Dubai later this year. The Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel and the Renaissance Atlanta Gateway Hotel also celebrated their openings during the global day.(Cecilia Tan) |
