    2018-10-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A TOTAL of 20 Marriott hotels in Shenzhen and Huizhou organized the “Run to Give” charity run Oct. 13, which raised over 141,000 yuan (US$20,400). All proceeds generated will be used to support Operation Smile, which offers safe and quality surgeries for the children with cleft lip and cleft palate in China. The event also attracted nearly 800 participants.

Marriott International, the world’s largest hotel group, kicked off the 2018 “Run to Give” charity run in China in September, which involves 290 Marriott hotels in 60 cities. So far the event has raised over 1.2 million yuan for Operation Smile.

Marriott International has been supporting Operation Smile since 2008 and till now, more than 1,000 Marriott volunteers have been involved in the missions Operation Smile executed across China. Meanwhile, Marriott hotels in China also provide complimentary accommodation for international medical volunteers from all over the world.

Operation Smile conducted its first mission in China 27 years ago, and since then, the program has treated over 30,000 cleft lip and palate patients.(SD News)
