Altitudes celebrates Xmas with creative gastronomy
    2018-12-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE entire city is immersed in a festive atmosphere this December. At Altitudes, music, flowers and decorations have all been blended with the elements of Christmas joy. Food has also naturally taken on a Christmas theme. To start a distinct Christmas journey for guests, Altitudes presents a fantastic Christmas afternoon tea set for December and a Cantonese-style feast set menu for Christmas Eve.

Until Dec. 31, guests can enjoy traditional Christmas desserts at Altitudes, including valrhona chocolate Yule log cake, raspberry chocolate Christmas bell cake, traditional Christmas handmade cookies, and kumquat vanilla cream cake. Also on offer are specially prepared dim sums. A-la-carte desserts are there for guests’ enjoyment as well.

On Christmas Eve, the restaurant will serve the Cantonese-style Christmas Eve feast set menu. The appetizer combines such fine ingredients as Russian black caviar, foie gras and Parma ham, paired with four courses of exquisite Cantonese cuisine. The menu also includes sliced red grouper drenched in lobster soup, flame-roasted pigeon, Australian beef rib fried with beans, and baked seafood rice.

Live jazz performances will feature carols and Christmas classics accompanied by the melody of the double bass and the cheerful chirping of the keyboard, adding a romantic touch to the evening.

In addition, Altitudes is unveiling a traditional Christmas hot drink: gluehwein, also known as mulled wine. A variety of spices and fruits are added to simmering wine in this wintery classic originating from Europe.

Located in the heart of Futian District, Altitudes covers two floors of Shenzhen landmark the Ping An Finance Center, which are the 117th and 118th floors. It makes Altitudes one of the highest restaurants in the world. Guests can see a panorama of Shenzhen from all angles while dining.(Tang Li)
