Shangri-La Group builds new complex in Fuzhou
    2019-03-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Shangri-La Group announced it has started construction on Phase II of Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou — a new mixed-use development complex — located at the center of the capital city of Fujian Province. When completed, this iconic project will serve as a high-end commercial complex comprising a hotel, shopping mall, food and beverage outlets, office building and basement parking space. It will cater to the growing travel, business, leisure and lifestyle needs of today’s modern consumers. The complex is scheduled for completion in 2022.

This mixed-use development complex will feature ecological construction concepts and is designed to bring more greenery into public areas. In addition, the complex aims to integrate contemporary retail experience and innovative social space. When completed, it is expected to bring even more buzz and life to the surrounding areas.

The 414-room Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou opened in 2005 under the Project Phase I. Since then, the hotel has been recognized for its high quality services and international standards. China’s consumption-driven economy today represents new growth opportunities for Shangri-La. During the preparation and construction of the Project Phase II, Shangri-La Group received guidance and support from the local government. The group will continue to create iconic projects to promote Fuzhou’s tourism industry and economic growth.

“We are committed to the long-term growth and investment of Fuzhou. We hope to leverage our brands, project development capabilities and management expertise to bring quality projects to the city. We also hope that in time this lifestyle complex can serve as a vibrant social hub bringing locals and visitors together to enjoy,” said Lim Beng Chee, Shangri-La Group chief executive officer.

Shangri-La Group is one of the world’s premier developers, owners and operators of hotel properties. The group’s principal activities are in hotel properties, hotel management services, investment properties and property development for sale.

It currently owns and/or manages over 100 hotels globally in 75 destinations under the Shangri-La, Kerry, Hotel Jen and Traders brands. The group also develops, owns and operates investment properties including office properties, commercial properties and serviced apartments/residences.

Prominently positioned in Asia, the group has a substantial pipeline of upcoming hotel and mixed-use development projects in Australia, China, Cambodia, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
