Marriott Bonvoy kicks off FIRst Master Class
    2019-04-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

MARRIOTT Bonvoy, a new name for the former Marriott Rewards, The Ritz-Carlton Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) programs, has joined hands with former national table tennis player and Grand Slam winner Wang Nan to present the first Marriott Bonvoy Master Class. The launch event was held at JW Marriott Hotel Sanya Dadonghai Bay.

The Marriott Bonvoy Master Class is one of the most sought-after Marriott Bonvoy Moments experiences. The classes gave members access to highly personal interactions with superstars in the sports, culinary, and entertainment and lifestyle arenas, inspiring them to pursue and perfect their other passions wherever they travel.

The Marriott Bonvoy Master Class debuts in China with a focus on China’s national sport, table tennis. With this collaboration with Wang and Ping Pong Hut, which was founded by Wang after her retirement, the Master Class will offer a rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Marriott Bonvoy members and their families to learn winning techniques from a professional world champion player and even challenge her to a match.

“We are always listening to our members, and we hear their passion for sports. This is why Marriott Bonvoy focuses on developing exciting, sports-related experiences. It gives our members a chance to get up close and personal with the heroes they admire,” said Lawrence Ng, Marriott International’s vice president of sales and marketing in China.

“I am very happy to be the first ‘Master’ of Marriott Bonvoy Master Class in China. I think travel can help enlighten people, and I believe a life lived with passion is a more fulfilled one,” said Wang.

“I hope with the inaugural Master Class, kids can learn about the fun and challenge of table tennis. With table tennis training, I hope they can learn to chase their dreams and become the best versions of themselves. I wish there will be more opportunities like this in the future.”

During the Marriott Bonvoy Master Class launch ceremony, Wang took Marriott Bonvoy members and young guests on an exciting table tennis training session featuring a series of drills and interactive games. All participants enjoyed meeting Wang and benefited from the coaching session with a world champion. Lucky members got to challenge the champion using super-sized paddles.

The launch ceremony of the inaugural Marriott Bonvoy Master Class was held at JW Marriott Hotel Sanya Dadonghai Bay, promoting the core concepts of the Family by JW global initiative by JW Marriott. Specially curated for children ages 5 to 12, the Family by JW program consists of thoughtfully curated and creative adventures designed to let families feel inspired and connected.

This coming summer, as part of the collaboration with Ping Pong Hut and the Family by JW program, a specially-tailored Summer Camp package will be launched at JW Marriott Hotel Sanya Dadonghai Bay.

Through a series of table tennis lessons led by professional coaches, young participants will get the chance to learn the skills and techniques of the sport. Meanwhile, the Family by JW program will also offer a variety of enriching experiences for family travelers, empowering each family to create their own most memorable experiences.
