Sudan council invites opposition for meeting
    2019-05-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SUDAN’S Transitional Military Council (TMC) has invited the country’s major opposition forces for a meeting set for yesterday to discuss arrangements of the transitional period and formation of a civilian government, the opposition announced Saturday.

“We have received a call from the TMC to resume the negotiations,” said the major opposition Freedom and Change Alliance in a statement.

“We have informed them that the old approach is not consistent with the demands of the Sudanese people in salvation and in reaching the goals of the revolution as quick as possible,” noted the statement.

The alliance set a period of 72 hours to reach a deal with the TMC on the outstanding points, including the formation of a joint sovereignty council, the duration of the transitional period, and affiliation of the military bodies, it added.

The alliance said it has determined the points of difference, noting that those points would conclusively be discussed with the council.
