THE Mid-Autumn Festival, which celebrates the harvest and family reunion, falls on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar. The five-star Kempinski Hotel Shenzhen, as usual, has prepared delicious mooncake sets for guests to taste and share with their loved ones. The traditional four-piece set, including two white lotus paste mooncakes with yolks and two healthy and unique spirulina mooncakes, sells for 298 yuan (US$42) per box. The popular Kempinski Mini Eight includes smaller cakes in four flavors - flowing milk with yolk, white lotus paste with yolk, cranberry and tiramisu. The price is 268 yuan per set. Presented in neat and simplistic blue boxes, the mooncake sets make a perfect gift for friends, family and business partners. On the day, the in-house Seasons Restaurant will be serving a buffet dinner featuring Southeast Asian dishes too. Butter-sautéed prawns, vegetables cooked with curry, Indonesian stir-fried beef slices, Vietnam cold noodles with sesame sauce, roast fish, and papaya milk pudding will all be up for grabs. Guests will be treated to a sweet-scented osmanthus wine as well as a fun DIY herbal aromatherapy pouch-making activity. To top it off, there will be a guzheng performance that night. The buffet dinner costs 398 yuan per person.
