High tea, flower arts make oriental summer

A REPLAY of the exquisite high tea hours joined by young ladies during the Song Dynasty (960-1279) may be experienced when you open the three-layered turquoise hamper and feast both eyes and taste buds on a collection of oriental style tea room refreshments at the lobby bar of the JW Marriott Hotel Shenzhen Bao’an.

The upper layer of the hamper features Japanese wagashis with light, fruity flavors. The Daifukus have blended taste of green tea and mangos, while the raindrop cakes give your sweet tooth a trio presentation of honey peaches, osmanthus and honey dotted with cherry blossom shaped icings. The middle layer remind you of the childhood pastry shops, containing a picture-perfect combination of traditional Chinese tea cakes including lotus pastries, walnut-shaped cakes and Qingtuans stuffed with salted egg yolk and meat floss. While moving your forks to the bottom layer, low-calorie and-fat dishes, such as salmon sashimi rolls served with sour cream, spiced beef asparagus sandwiches and tomatoes marinated with plum juice, will put a healthy end to the tea time which helps to keep your diet plan progressing.

The high tea set for two also contains Chinese and English tea, coffee and special drinks.

Joining the flower classes at the hotel is a good option for stretching your legs after the idle tea time. You can customize your personal flower box using seasonal flowers such as Austin roses, daisies, delphiniums and craspedias. The flowers keep fresh for 10 to 15 days.

Don’t feel like leaving and want to prolong the leisure hours? Why not stay overnight in a deluxe room or an executive suite and enjoy a buffet dinner at the Shenzhen Kitchen in the hotel. Moreover, with the exception of the executive lounge, all the supporting facilities at the hotel have reopened to the public.

In keeping with epidemic control requirements, visitors are required to register their identifications via scanning the QR codes posted at the entrance to the hotel and show the green health codes to the receptionists when checking in.
