THE COVID-19 pandemic may restrict us from safely traveling worry-free. However, Park Hyatt Guangzhou is bringing us closer to the capitals of romance in the West and the East — Paris and Shanghai — by presenting a themed afternoon tea inspired by patisseries and savories from the two cities. Available daily from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. between June 15 and Aug. 31, the afternoon tea set features classic Shanghai delicacies including steamed egg whites with crab roe, Shanghai-style dumplings and steamed bass in honey, as well as signature French desserts such as madelines with honey and chrysanthemum, Napoleon lemon tarts, Earl Grey caramel finger puffs, rose litchi and raspberry macarons and chocolate chip cakes. Guests could also choose other sweet treats like five different low-sugar, refreshing angel cakes, ice creams and sorbets as well as Îles flottantes (floating island) and steamed pork dumplings with bamboo shoot cubes. For drinks there are the “Shanghai 1943” cocktail and the “Paris Roses,” a non-alcoholic cocktail. The afternoon tea set is priced at 468 yuan (US$67) per two persons, including service charges and taxes. (Yang Mei) |
