Palestine agrees with Jordan to hold peace meeting
    2020-12-02  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

PALESTINE agreed with Jordan and Egypt to form a joint committee to support convening an international peace conference to resolve the Mideast conflict, a senior official announced yesterday.

Mahmoud al-Aloul, deputy chief of the Fatah movement, told reporters in Ramallah that forming the joint committee “supports the Palestinian diplomatic efforts to preserve the two-state solution’s vision.”

The committee will support the Palestinian initiative to hold an international conference for peace early next year and to mobilize the global support for restoring the two-state solution, al-Aloul said.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, also Fatah’s chief, visited Jordan and Egypt this week to boost the relations after several Arab countries normalized ties with Israel.

Al-Aloul said the Palestinians want to enhance coordination and cooperation with the influential Arab powers regionally and internationally, especially Egypt and Jordan, to gain more support for the Palestinian cause.

In a speech addressed before the United Nations General Assembly in September, Abbas asked to start preparations with the international parties to hold a peace conference next year.
