Singaporean food festival at Shangri-La
    2021-09-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHANGRI-LA Group and the Singapore Tourism Board have come together to present the “Savor Singapore in Every Bite” food festival across seven cities and in nine Shangri-La and Kerry hotels on the Chinese mainland through Sept. 16.

The nine Shangri-La and Kerry hotels are Shangri-La Guangzhou; China World Summit Wing, Beijing; Kerry Hotel, Beijing; Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai; Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai; Midtown Shangri-La, Hangzhou; Shangri-La Chengdu; Shangri-La Shenyang; and Shangri-La Xi’an. These hotels pay tribute to the local flavors that create Singapore’s rich culinary culture with immersive dining experiences helmed by master chefs.

Diversity and inclusivity are two of Singapore’s guiding principles and they also form important parts of the nation’s food culture. From exquisite Michelin-starred restaurants to authentic hawker center dishes, Singapore’s culinary scene embraces tradition and innovation, the East and the West. To showcase this rich heritage, the Singapore Tourism Board has hosted the Singapore Food Festival annually since 1994. This year, the festival invites foodies to explore Singapore’s gastronomic landscape by partnering with Shangri-La Group to bring the authentic taste of Singapore to Shangri-La’s guests in China.

Sunny Paw, deputy CEO and executive vice president of operations of Shangri-La Group in China, said, “There is a profound connection between Shangri-La and Singapore as our first hotel opened in Singapore 50 years ago. We have been inspired by our Asian heritage and committed to bringing the best of Asia to our guests through heartfelt hospitality and gastronomic innovation.”

At the festival, all nine participating hotels host wine-pairing events to highlight classic Singaporean flavors interpreted through the palates of Shangri-La master chefs. Guests can also look forward to specially curated buffet menus, set menus and à la carte menus that present traditional and contemporary Singaporean dishes and drinks at the hotels’ restaurants and bars.

Each hotel offers its own unique interpretation of Singapore’s culinary landscape with exclusive dishes, experiences, and menus. In Shangri-La Guangzhou, the S. E. Asia Kitchen & Bar is offering the Peranakan cuisine, which fuses Chinese and Malay culinary traditions.

The dining experiences are extended to in-room dining and happy hour at the club lounge at each hotel, and guests also have the opportunity to browse a collection of delicacies at the hotel’s retail counters and bring home a taste of Singapore.(SD News)
