Guangxi marks Double Third Day
    2022-04-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Shangsi Festival, also known as the Double Third Day, is celebrated by the Zhuang ethnic group on the third day of the third lunar month, which fell on April 3 this year.

As the home to most Zhuang people, South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regions holds various events to mark the day.

This year, Guangxi’s port city of Fangchenggang launched a series of online activities for the festival, including a fashion show that invited the public to take photo of themselves at local parks, museums and representative buildings with ethnic costumes on. An online gala also provided the public with music and dance of local minorities.

The city’s students and teachers also enjoyed the festival by taking part in different activities. Nearly 500 students and teachers of Fangchenggang Experimental Primary School performed a dance featuring ethnic characteristics which the school choreographed. A primary school in the city’s Shangsi County invited their students to chorus folk songs, perform bamboo pole dance, throw embroidered balls and draw Zhuang people’s life to mark the festival.

The southeastern Guangxi city of Guigang also held a total of 49 special activities for local people during the Double Third Day. The events mainly focused on promoting food, ethnic cultures, ethnic sports and tourism with ethnic characteristics.
