THE air forces of China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will conduct a joint training exercise in Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in August, the Ministry of National Defense announced yesterday.

According to the ministry, the exercise, Falcon Shield-2023, will be the first joint training between the two nation’s air forces.

It aims to deepen pragmatic exchanges and cooperation between the two militaries and enhance mutual understanding and trust, the ministry added.

THE Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) on Sunday held a reception to celebrate the 96th anniversary of the founding of the PLA at Stonecutters Island Barracks, thanking all walks of life in Hong Kong for their long-time support.

Peng Jingtang, commander of the Chinese PLA Hong Kong Garrison, reviewed the historical achievements made by the PLA under the leadership of the Communist Party of China in the past 96 years, and reviewed the hard work of the PLA garrison in Hong Kong since it entered Hong Kong 26 years ago.

Trespassers found dead

FOUR people who trespassed on the Lop Nor Wild Camel National Nature Reserve in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have all died, according to a report Saturday from Nanguo Morning News, a news outlet based in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The harsh and inhospitable conditions in Lop Nor make it challenging for people to live in the area.
