Bubonic plague CHINA’S northern region of Inner Mongolia reported two cases of bubonic plague Saturday, following a previous infection that was detected Aug. 7, the local government said. The two people infected are the husband and daughter of the previous case, the government said in a statement on its website. Visitor arrivals in HK A TOTAL of 16,472,409 people visited Hong Kong in the first seven months of this year, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) said Friday. The preliminary number of visitor arrivals in July was about 3.6 million, an increase of 31% from the previous month, and about 2.97 million of them were from the Chinese mainland, according to the HKTB. Passenger throughput BEIJING Capital Inter-national Airport’s 2023 passenger throughput surpassed 30 million Friday, the airport has announced. The airport has handled a total of 220,000 flights this year as of Friday, it said. Flight and passenger volumes at the airport have hit their latest highs since the summer travel peak, with the airport’s daily passenger throughput averaging 169,000 in August, data shows. |
