    2023-09-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Chinese team won the Rowing Men’s Eight Final at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou yesterday with a timing of 5:40.17.

Among the team members, Ni Xulin from Shenzhen, Liang Weixiong from Zhongshan and Nie Yide from Foshan are athletes from Guangdong Province.

Ni, born in Jiangsu in 1996, started rowing in 2011 and was trained by the Shenzhen and Foshan coaching teams at the Guangdong Boating Training Center.

This gold medal thus marked Shenzhen’s first gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

The rowing competition of the Hangzhou Asian Games consists of 14 events. China, who claimed one silver and nine gold medals in the last Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018, has sent 37 rowers this time, including 13 Tokyo Olympians.(Han Ximin)
