Thick fog

CHINA’S national observatory yesterday renewed a yellow alert for thick fog in some parts of the country.

Heavy fog is expected to affect parts of Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Sichuan Basin, Fujian, Liaoning and Xinjiang, according to the National Meteorological Center.

Visibility in some affected areas will be reduced to less than 200 meters and even below 50 meters, the center said.

Hydrogen fuel cells

CHINESE scientists have developed a proton exchange membrane fuel cell with ultra-high volumetric power density, more than 80% higher than the performance of mainstream counterparts.

Jiao Kui, a professor at Tianjin University’s School of Mechanical Engineering, and his team redesigned the proton exchange membrane fuel cell’s architecture, incorporating new components and optimizing the gas-water-electric-heat transfer routes. This breakthrough not only provides pivotal guidance for advancing proton exchange membrane fuel cell technology, but also indicates a promising leap forward in the field of clean energy.

Patriotic education

THE first non-governmental patriotic education exhibition hall in Hong Kong opened Monday, aiming to provide a platform for understanding and learning about patriotic history.

Through a vast collection of historical materials, the hall aims to deepen patriotic education, and enhance social cohesion and national identity.
