Living up to its reputation, it handles a daily average passenger flow of 1.12 million. Data from the Shenzhen transport bureau revealed that the city’s Metro network, spanning 524.68 kilometers, also achieved a new milestone with a total of 10.23 million passenger trips on the same day. Shenzhen secured the top position in the country for passenger density, boasting 14,100 passenger trips per kilometer per day. During the first half of the year, the Metro lines operated by Shenzhen Metro Group accommodated a total of 1.34 billion passenger trips, making up 67.6% of public transport usage. QR code usage saw a significant rise with 4.5 million daily scans, which constituted 61% of the entire passenger throughput, indicating that scanning QR codes for payments has become the preferred payment method for Metro travelers. Looking ahead, the second half of this year will witness the launch of four new Metro lines, including Phase IV of Line 3, Phase II of Line 7, Phase II of Line 11, and Phase II of Line 12. |
