Xpeng Aeroht reveals modular flying car
    2024-09-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

XPENG Aeroht, the flying car division of the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) startup Xpeng, unveiled its modular flying car, the Land Aircraft Carrier, at a preview event held in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, on Tuesday.

During the event, attendees witnessed a live demonstration of the air module’s flight capabilities, offering a new solution for flying cars. The vehicle will make its inaugural public manned flight at the China Airshow in Zhuhai scheduled for November, said the company.

The new model will also appear at the Guangzhou International Auto Show in November, with pre-sales expected to start by the end of the year, according to Zhao Deli, the founder of Xpeng Aeroht.

Consisting of a Tesla Cybertruck-style off-road EV and a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) flying module hidden behind its hatch, the Land Aircraft Carrier measures approximately 5.5 meters in length, 2 meters in width and 2 meters in height. It can fit into a standard parking spot and be driven with a Class-C license.

During Tuesday’s event, the flying module took off vertically from the grass, and circled in the air before landing smoothly.

“Friends or family members can go on an outdoor adventure, camp in a scenic location, and experience low-altitude flight to view the landscape from a whole new perspective,” Zhao explained one possible application scenario for the new product.

The company has sealed agreements with over 70 flying camps to develop application scenarios for its flying car products. (SD News)
