New medicines BIG pharmaceutical multinationals are unveiling their latest medicines and medical devices for the first time in China at the CIIE. Sanofi has Fitusiran injection, the world’s first and only non-factor siRNA therapy for hemophilia. Gilead is displaying Seladelpar for the treatment of primary biliary cholangitis, a chronic autoimmune disease that slowly destroys the bile ducts. Novartis brings its latest cardiovascular and renal drugs, including Atrasentan and Fabhalta. Johnson & Johnson presents four cardiovascular products. China pavilion THE China pavilion at CIIE showcased the country’s latest technological innovations with many making their global debut. Notable exhibits include a model of the Chang’e-6 lunar probe, China’s deep-sea manned submersible Fendouzhe, humanoid robots and tri-fold smartphones. LNG deal CHINA Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, better known as Sinopec, has penned a 15-year procurement contract for liquefied natural gas (LNG) with France’s TotalEnergies, the world’s third-biggest LNG supplier, at the ongoing seventh China International Import Expo (CIIE). Sinopec will buy 2 million tons of LNG from TotalEnergies a year over a 15-year period starting 2028. The tie-up will not only boost TotalEnergies’ LNG sales but also meet China’s growing gas demand, industry insiders said. |
