Passengers at the departure hall of the T5 terminal of Xi’an Xianyang International Airport are seen taking photos Thursday in front of an installation in the shape of a roujiamo, a beloved local snack reminiscent of a sandwich.

The new terminal, with a total construction area of 705,500 square meters, opened officially Thursday. Larger than the combined area of the existing T1, T2, and T3 terminals at the airport, the terminal houses a museum showcasing artifacts unearthed in Shaanxi Province.
