Led by SZSO assistant conductor Fang Zhongling, the concert featured 21 beloved pieces, including Chinese classics such as “Dance of the Yao People” and “Full Moon, Beautiful Flowers,” as well as scores from popular movies like “Coco,” “Titanic,” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Many in the audience, including not only SIS students and their parents but also other expat members of the community, scanned the fundraising QR code at the event to support the charity effort. Matthew Doige, principal of the SIS secondary school, emphasized the significance of the concert, which aligns with the school’s mission to cultivate a young generation capable of contributing to the world. “It’s our honor to collaborate with the local charity fund and the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra to present this concert, give back to the community, and help those in need,” he said. Fang, the conductor of the concert, highlighted that music not only nurtures the soul and brings joy but also connects people. “I’ve specifically chosen a program that caters to the interests of young audiences, with many pieces from beloved animated films,” Fang said, adding that the students delivered a passionate and delightful performance. The event was co-sponsored by the Shekou Community Foundation and the Nanshan Women’s Federation. |
