THE Z10 Club — launched by EyeShenzhen, the Shenzhen News Group’s international communication platform — brings together international students from 10 leading higher education institutions in Shenzhen. This initiative aims to connect Gen Z students with the vibrant culture and innovative spirit of one of China’s most dynamic cities.

Representing countries around the globe, each member of the Z10 Club has a unique perspective on what they hope to explore in Shenzhen.

Thawab Kchaou, an Austrian studying at Shenzhen Technology University, is enthusiastic to learn about the local culture and community. “Shenzhen is home to the headquarters of many major global companies, and I want to see the buildings that represent this rapid development,” she stated. “It’s fascinating how this city evolved from almost nothing to what it is today. I want to learn more about its story.”

Alba Pjeshka, an Albanian also studying at Shenzhen Technology University, is drawn to the high-tech sector. “I want to know more about BYD because I think it is one of the best car companies in the world right now. I also want to learn more about Tencent and Baidu. I want to understand how they operate,” she said.

Pooneh Dabiri, an Iranian studying at Shenzhen University, is interested in exploring ancient villages within the city. “I haven’t visited the historic parts of Shenzhen, and I want to learn about its rich history,” she noted.

Chico Manna, a Brazilian student at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, has set his sights on visiting Dapeng. “I haven’t been to Dapeng, and I’m eager to explore that area," he said.

Umar Farooq, a doctoral student in power systems at Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, aims to delve into the city’s industrial landscape. “With my background as an electrical engineer, I am particularly interested in zero-carbon facilities and the industrial areas in Shenzhen,” he mentioned.

Anton Vladimirov, a Russian studying at Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, is focused on the cultural and historical aspects of the city. “My major relates to Chinese history and culture, so I want to explore ancient villages in the city,” he explained.

Janandi Oshadi Sri Ranasinghe, a student from Sri Lanka studying at the Harbin Institute of Technology, mentioned that she enjoys hiking along mountainside and seaside trails. “If I have the chance, I would also like to visit the tech companies,” she said.
