THE Qingdao University of Science and Technology was recently treated to a charity concert given by Qingdao Symphony Orchestra.

The concert presented Chinese and foreign classical melodies, including Mozart’s “Divertimento,” Schubert’s “Serenade” and Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy.”

“A good selection of concert music should allow the audience to start from familiar melodies and then gradually enhance their interest and taste in classical music,” said Liu Yuxia, the orchestra’s concert conductor.

That’s why the concert treated its audience to relatively well-known music, performed by 15 young members of the orchestra, she said.

The concert also featured interactive music activities.

Qingdao Symphony Orchestra will go on to visit other universities, middle schools and primary schools in Qingdao to enhance the popularity of classical music. (Jane Lai, Li Wei)
