CONSTRUCTION has begun on Shuangbu-Hi-tech Zone Road, which will connect Qingdao National Hi-tech Zone and Hongdao as part of a 3-billion-yuan (US$444m) bay road network.
The project is expected to provide infrastructure support for the economic development of Hongdao Island.
According to the city’s transport department, the network will include Shuangbu-Hi-tech Zone Road, Shuangji Road (Hi-tech Zone to Hongshiya section), Zhengyang Road to Shuangbu-Hi-tech Zone Road, Shuangbu-Hi-tech Zone Road to the toll gate on Cross-sea Bridge, the extension of Hedong Road, and Chuangye Boulevard and Keji Boulevard. The network will total 63.3 kilometers, and several of the projects are already under way.

32 couples tie the knot
THIRTY-TWO couples from around the country got married at the city’s Olympic Sailing Center on Sept. 29. Having started in 2005, the mass wedding ceremony has now become the most influential wedding event in the country, seeing the largest number of participants, with more than 1,000 couples tying the knot over the past five years.
