A HIGH-SPEED electric train made by Qingdao Sifang and China South Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co. set a new world speed record — 416.6 kph — on a test run on the Shanghai-Hangzhou Railway on Sept. 28.
The high-speed trains running between the two cities are now the fastest and most advanced in the world, the company management said.
As one of the country’s leading train manufacturers, Qingdao Sifang produced 150 high-speed trains by the end of last year, making it the biggest high-speed train producer in China. Qingdao Sifang holds more than 300 patents in the research and development of high-speed trains.
