A TOTAL of 18 universities from around the country participated in the 2010 International Varsity Debate in Qingdao from Sept. 25 to Oct. 2. The team from Wuhan University in Hubei Province received first prize, winning a seat to attend the final competition to be held in Singapore.

“Debates are a very good way of stimulating thinking about society and social issues, and this is the key meaning of the competition,” said competition judge Yin Hong, vice dean of the Journalism and Media College of Qinghua University in Beijing.(Stephy Wang, Zhao Di)
