Asian Games' torch lights my hometown
     2010-October-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The 16th Asian Games will be hosted in Guangzhou in November. As a supporting host city, my hometown Dongguan will hold the weightlifting events from November 13 to 19.

As a famous "city of weightlifters" which has been home to several world weightlifting champions, our entire city is very excited and honored to be hosting the games. My grandfather often said: "Unbelievable! Unbelievable! Dongguan used to be a small agricultural county. Now it's a modern city and has a chance to hold a great match!"

As the Asian Games approaches, my hometown has been preparing.

Dongguan Stadium, which will be the main venue for the competitions, has been fully renovated. Streets and roads have been widened and they are more orderly and beautiful, with newly planted trees and flowers.

The city has become safer with rehearsals of emergency drills. Volunteers have been recruited and trained. Air quality has also improved.

I think we are ready for the Asian Games. I'm looking forward to it.
